Photogram

For my photogram i used a flower petal and some lace. I put it in the developer but exposed afterwords instead of putting it right into the fix. This was to make it slightly pinkish, which i think makes it look more antique.

Portrait: Emily

For this picture, i blurred out the background to make the subject pop out more. I really liked the lighting for this photo. I used an ISO of 400 and an exposure of -1/3. I also used a white balance for florescent lighting, which gave her skin a healthy glow, but also added some shadow to her face.

Portrait: Korey

For this portrait picture, i used an ISO of 400, which reduced some of the digital noise. I like how the viewer can only see half his face, and part of it is covered in shadow. For this picture i used a +1/3 exposure and a tungsten white balance.

Portrait: Emily, again.

For this portrait picture, i used a picture of my sister. I used photo shop to make her eyes pop a little and to blur out the background and make her the main focus.  Again, i used an ISO of 800 which created some digital noise.

Portrait: Evan

For a portrait picture, i used my friend Evan. I like how his shadow falls across only half his face, while the other is bright. I changed the color setting on this photo in iPhoto and changed up the contrast. I used a -1/3 exposure and had to use an ISO of 800, which added a lot of digital noise.

Landscape: Road

For this landscape photo, I used a -1 exposure, an ISO of 400, and a custom white balance, off the snow. The original picture had a big black blob of tar, which i took out in photoshop because i didn't want it as the focal point. Instead, i have a yellow sign as the focal point. It helps to lead the viewers eye down the road, which continues into the background.

Downtown

For my landscape picture, i used a city scape of downtown Oconomowoc. I blurred out the main focal point, the person, to show movement and to emphasize the clear background. Although this picture is orangey, I like the resulting color. I also like the shin of the lights in the background.

Roses

For my other macro photo, i used some roses. I blurred out the background so it wouldn't distract from the focal point. I also slightly blurred out the two flowers except for the center of the rose on the right. This was to create a main point of interest. I also used iPhoto to boost the color and added some contrast.
This photo was a select focus. I used my cat's paw as the main focus. For this picture, i used a macro setting to get all the close up details. I like how the viewer can see all the little hairs on his paws. I used a custom white balance and a low ISO. I like how the back was blurred out and just the paw was in focus.

Little Guy

This is a photo of my cat, Little Guy. I used a macro setting to really enhance his texture. The viewer can really see all the details in his fur. For this picture i used a very low ISO to capture detail and avoid digital noise. I used a custom white balance to avoid a bluish tint.

Honey

For this photo, I used a macro setting on a line of honey jars. The lines of the honey jars leads the viewers eye to the back of the photo. I like how the light reflects off the glass and adds contrast against the brown cork. I used a low ISO to avoid blurriness and a custom white balance.

Nasty food

Another thing that bothers me is when people leave their nasty food in my room and forget to take it out. So i took a picture of a sandwich that my sister left on my dresser. I enhanced the color a little in iPhoto to make it pop. I also used a macro setting so I could get very close and avoid blurriness. I used an auto white balance to avoid any orangey glows.
For photography our class was supposed to take a picture of something that bothers us or makes us upset. I chose to take a picture of a gravestone because death is something that bothers me. For this photo i blurred out the background but made the foreground sharp. I brightened the flowers in iPhoto to add contrast against the white snow.

For this photo i used 2 of the same layers as background. It added a more orangey glow and made my hair more textured. In photo shop, i brightened my eyes and in iphoto i added some contrast. I like the overall effect of the texture in the background. It makes the photo look slightly aged.

Passing the Time

For this photo, I took 40 pictures of the same clock. I layered all the pictures in photo shop. I then changed the opacity from very high to very low so the ones in the background would be clear and then fade as the pictures progressed. This made the hands on the clock's face look very dim. I pulled some of the hands out and darkened them to add more contrast and interest. From there, I went to iPhoto and changed the picture to black and white, enhanced the color, blurred the edges, and added some contrast. Overall, I like the aged effect of the blur and intensity of the dark hands on the light clock face.

This photo has a lot of contrast between the red and green. I used an ISO of 400 and a +1/3 exposure. I created a custom white balance for this photo. The swirls in this photo start blurry, and as they move down they clear out. At the very end, the background is also blurry. This photo shows a lot of depth and leads the viewers eye to the background.
For this photo, I used the macro setting. I used an ISO of 400 to retain detail but avoid digital noise. I used a +1/3 exposure to slightly brighten the photo. A custom white balance was used for this photo. The green and the red in this photo complement each other effectively. I was attempting to blur out the background and make the pine cone very clear to show depth.
This photo was taken using a macro setting. I used an ISO of 80 to avoid digital noise. For the white balance i used tungsten. I like the contrast of the gold and the purple for this photo.

Convers

For this photo, i used a custom white balance. I also used a +1/3 exposure. This photo effectivly blurs out the background, making the toe of the shoe the main focus. I used an ISO of 400 to avoid some digital noise.

Montage

I chose this particular background because I really love the mountains. There is a piano in the background, blending into a mountain. I used this because I really love music and it is pretty much essential to my life. I put in a plant sprout to show growth and change. I used a zebra because every zebra has a unique pattern of stripes. This represents my originality. I put red hair on the zebra because I love having red hair and people often comment on it. I stuck some books to the library because people usually consider me smart. There are balloons to show color and excitement, which is important in my life. And lastly i have a hot air balloon because i enjoy freedom, and a hot air balloon effectively displays this.

For this bell photo I changed the perspective to add interest. I used a custom white balance and an ISO of 400. With the 400 ISO, there is less digital noise. The contrast was also slightly altered in iPhoto.

beads

For this photo i enhanced the color in iPhoto to bring out the brighter pinks, purples, and blues. I used the white on the shirt for the custom white balance and a HI ISO. There is some white noise but the object was not blurry.
This picture is on a macro setting. There is a lot of digital noise because i used the HI setting of ISO. I used a custom white balance so it wasn't too orange or blue.
For this photo I used the macro setting and had an ISO of 800. This allowed the photo to be close up but added some digital noise to the details.

The perspective of this tree was used to create interest. The lines of the branches lead the viewers eye through the whole photo. I used a daylight white balance for the light of the sun. I also used a +1/3 exposure, making it slightly brighter.
In this landscape photo, the fire hydrant is the focal point. It is off-centered and the horizontal line of the fence moves the viewers eye. A daylight white balance was used along with a -1/3 exposure. This dulled down the photo and it's subjects and made the snow look more bright.

This picture is of a small pine tree, looking down the middle of it. I used a daylight white balance and a +2/3 exposure. This brightened the photo and made the green stand out. The white background doesn't take over the picture and blind the viewer, while the perspective adds interest.

Bell

The subject of this photo is a large bell. For this picture I used a daylight white balance to avoid an orangey glow. I also used a -2/3 exposure to dull it down and make the snow look less bright. This allows the bell to sand out, while the snow doesn't blind the viewer.
